Yogurt store owner appears in court

Robert Yachen Lee, who is charged with kidnapping and attempted murder of his female employee, made an appearance at the Alhambra Supreme Court on Friday, September 16, reports World Journal (世界日报).

The 37-year-old Lee is the owner of the Monterey Park frozen yogurt store, O My Yogurt. Lee allegedly lured his female employee into the second-floor stock room, where he proceeded to beat her and then bound her.  After she regained consciousness, the victim reportedly found herself wearing nothing except for an adult diaper, lying face down inside a soundproof box. She released herself and fled to a nearby optometry office for help. Officers arrested Lee two hours later.

Lee is charged with kidnapping to commit rape and attempted first degree murder. The bail is set at 10 million dollars. The next court date is scheduled for Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 9 a.m. at the Alhambra Supreme Court.
