Woman dies after getting struck by car on Valley Boulevard

A car struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Olive Avenue on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a 93-year-old Chinese woman, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

Alhambra Police Dispatch received a call at 2:45pm on Tuesday about the collision. The female pedestrian was walking eastbound across Olive south of Valley when she was struck by a van that was turning from westbound Valley to southbound Olive. The driver called the police after the incident happened. The victim was transported to LA County/USC hospital where she died at 4:08pm, according to LA County Coroner.

Police say alcohol or drugs did not play a factor in the incident. Detectives are looking for camera footage from nearby businesses to determine the exact speed of the van, which is estimated to be 15 to 20 miles per hour, before it struck the pedestrian.

The names of the parties involved are being withheld, as the investigation is ongoing.
