US Supreme Court rejects Spector's murder appeal

The U.S. Supreme Court declined Tuesday to hear record producer Phil Spector's appeal of his murder conviction for fatally shooting actress Lana Clarkson in his Alhambra home nine years ago, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Spector, 72, is serving 19 years to life.

His attorneys argued that prosecutors had turned the trial judge into a government witness by using his statements in a multimedia presentation, among other challenges, the Associated Press reported. The California State Supreme Court had also declined to hear the appeal.
