Us kids know, no cars go

[email protected] are portraits of the City of Alhambra and the people who go about their lives here.
The photo: After a recent rainstorm, I cut through the parking lot at the Alhambra Carwash. It was silent; the staff had vanished. Opened in 1968, the carwash has made improvements to the machinery over the years, but the overall feel reminds of a different city I remember from my childhood. I can still see the old layout of the waiting area, my family sitting on a bench while our car was hand dried by the staff. Now with my own car, I really don’t drive if I can help it.
The photographer: Nathan Solis takes photos all over the city of Los Angeles, and currently is in the middle of a 365 photo project.
