The key master of Valley and New

The photo: Locksmith Sadrach Garcia spends his days in a tiny booth off of Valley Blvd, surrounded by keys and a grinder. Most of his customers are Asian and speak very little English — a stark difference from when he first started as an apprentice in Mexicali, Mexico. Often times Garcia haggles with his fingers, holding up eight or seven; the customers waving three or four in response.Though business can get slow, he knows why he came to the United States. “There are too many problems in Mexico – it’s not secure. I have a family to take care of,” he says, before excusing himself to attend to another customer.

The photographer: Nathan Solis acts as curator for Look @ Alhambra. Often times he can be found taking photos in mosh pits, political rallies or on the streets of Los Angeles.
