Suspicious package in Alhambra turns out to be bag of candy

The sheriff's bomb squad was called out to Alhambra Monday after police received a report of a suspicious package on Norwood Place and 8th Street, the Pasadena Star-News reports. The paper bag, which was on top of a manhole cover, turned out to be a bag of candy.

Police closed streets in the area and alerted school officials at nearby Ramona Elementary School, but officials did not evacuate residents or place the school on lockdown, according to the Star-News.
