Alhambra , CA United States

Alhambra Source is a non profit online news outlet that launched in 2010 with the goal of increasing civic engagement and improving inter-ethnic relations in a city that was deprived of it. We are a project of Community Partners, a non profit 501c3 fiscal sponsorship organization. With the input and help of readers, our website has functioned as a platform for transparency and diverse conversations – catered to the issues that affect Alhambra and the surrounding San Gabriel Valley. Our small publication has touched several hearts and ruffled some feathers, but what has kept us relevant is your support, your feedback, and your trust in our mission for democracy and transparency in media. Our programming includes community contributor meetings, quarterly training workshops, and the creation of digital content that covers the sometimes controversial, but important, issues. With that said, we need your help.

Alhambra Source needs your help in supporting the events, community meetings, and the sustainability needs that will allow us to continue producing free and factual journalism. Currently, with our 10,000+ reach, we need membership support more than ever in order to continue to report on and discover the Alhambra and surrounding SGV area that has been ignored. With this in mind, we are proud to announce our semi-annual Founding Membership Drive! Your contribution of $25 will continue to fund our programming such as our upcoming “Telling Our Stories” youth workshop which will teach students how to combat misinformation in media. As a member, you get invitations to monthly meetings with our editors, community contributors and advisory board members; exclusive membership content, and an Alhambra Source decal.

Our goal for the Founding Membership Drive is $10,000! We know it is possible with your help. If we reach this goal, we can sustain our community voices program and produce more stories written by our Managing Editor and members of the community! Click the donate button on our website to learn more.

Below is a detailed overview of our founding members semi-annual membership packages:

Supporter: donation of $25-$49 includes decal + exclusive meetings with our Staff and Board (happy hour, boba outings, coffee talks)

Game Changer: donation of $50 plus includes Supporter package + 2015 Alhambra Source Anthology – a physical publication including 50 examples of our best community stories up to the year 2015.

Independent journalism is a bedrock of democracy--and it's in crisis. Here at the Alhambra Source, we're committed to covering the local stories that matter most to you. We don’t have advertisers and we don’t have pay walls, but we do have bills. You read to the end of this story. That's great. But this kind of journalism will end without public support. Join us! Support the work and the democratic values it serves. Donate now!

The Alhambra Source encourages comment on our stories. However, we do not vet comments for accuracy or endorse links to posts in the comment section. The thoughts and opinions expressed belong solely to the author of the comment.
