Elba Alonso de Ortega

I’m a lifelong resident of Alhambra and having a local newspaper, like Alhambra Source, is very important to me. It’s the only way to know the issues that will directly affect my day to day, where I live. That’s why I decided to support Alhambra Source with a monthly donation.

Meet Wallie and Cinnamon at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

851 E Grand Avenue
San Gabriel , CA 91776 United States
Phone: (626)286-1159

Name: Wallie and Cinnamon
Gender: Both male
Breed: Wallie (Shar-Pei mix), Cinnamon (terrier mix)
Age: Wallie (15 years old), Cinnamon (10 year old)
Weight: Cinnamon (17 pounds), Wallie (48 pounds)
Fur: Wallie (black fur), Cinnamon (brown fur)

Wallie and Cinnamon are both seniors and a bonded pair who came to San Gabriel Humane from a Los Angeles shelter. They are kenneled together and want to be adopted together to live out their retirement years in a comfortable home. Although we don’t know their prior history, they give the indication of having been together for quite a while.

Wallie is a 15-year-old Shar-Pei mix with a beautiful black coat showing little sign of gray, so he could pass for much younger. Wallie is a mellow dog who is comfortable with people and enjoys getting attention. He will put his head in your lap and stay for as long as you will let him, soaking up the petting and ear scratching. He’s an affectionate boy with a sweet disposition.

Cinnamon is a 10-year-old terrier mix who is less than half of Wallie’s size, but is clearly the dominant dog in their relationship. When you pass by their kennel, you will probably find Wallie taking a nap on his cot while Cinnamon stays at the front of the kennel keeping watch. Cinnamon also has a calm, easygoing personality and enjoys being with people.

Both Wallie and Cinnamon enjoy going for walks together and are easy to manage on the leash. They are happy companions and want nothing more than to be able to stay together in a loving home with a nice yard, a daily walk and a comfortable bed at night. If you can offer these sweet boys the home they deserve for their golden years, please come and meet them during kennel hours, Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Both dogs qualify for the Senior-for-Senior Adoption Discount program and the Buddy System Adoption program. Their adoption fee includes neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip and a free wellness exam at a participating veterinarian.

Independent journalism is a bedrock of democracy--and it's in crisis. Here at the Alhambra Source, we're committed to covering the local stories that matter most to you. We don’t have advertisers and we don’t have pay walls, but we do have bills. You read to the end of this story. That's great. But this kind of journalism will end without public support. Join us!
