Fatal shooting at China Press office in Alhambra

A man was fatally shot at the offices of The China Press newspaper on Friday, Nov. 16, according to the Alhambra Police Department Facebook page.

Zhong Qi Chen, 56, was detained at the scene by Alhambra police. He was later booked on suspicion of murder with a firearm. It was confirmed that Chen and the victim were coworkers.

Alhambra police found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds, after responding to a 911 call at 9:28 a.m. Despite attempts to save him, the man died at the scene. Police recovered a handgun at the scene.

An investigation into motive and the relationships between the victim and suspect are ongoing.
