A 7 p.m., the Alhambra City Council will hand out commendations to fire and police personnel who helped fight the northern California wildfires, the Thomas fire and helped with Montecito mudslide rescue efforts.

During the northern California wildfires and the Thomas fire, the Alhambra Fire Department joined other departments to form Strike Team 1205 Alpha, which helped protect structures, clear brush and alert residents to evacuate during both incidents. After the Montecito mudslides, firefighters joined Regional Urban Search and Rescue Team 4 to search structures and vehicles for survivors.

The consent agenda includes giving the National Fitness Campaign up to $75,000 to build a fitness court at Alhambra Park, and setting the City of Alhambra’s default rate of renewable energy at 50 percent, as part of the Community Choice Energy Program that the City enrolled in last year.
