I’m a lifelong resident of Alhambra and having a local newspaper, like Alhambra Source, is very important to me. It’s the only way to know the issues that will directly affect my day to day, where I live. That’s why I decided to support Alhambra Source with a monthly donation.

Alhambra , CA United States

The California Democratic Party will elect delegates this Sunday to represent Alhambra’s Assembly District at the Democratic State Central Committee.

The elections for delegates from California’s 49th Assembly District will be held at the Rosemead Community Recreation Center on Jan. 13 at 9:45 a.m., according to the California Democratic Party’s website.

Registered Democratic voters living in California’s 49th Assembly District are eligible to vote for seven self-identified female delegates and seven candidates who identify as a gender other than female. There are 45 candidates running for the delegate seats, including Chin Ho Liao and Denise Menchaca from the San Gabriel City Council.

The Democratic State Central Committee is the governing body of the California Democratic Party. Delegates attend state conventions every year to vote on party business, including legislative priorities on issues facing California and the United States.

The 2019 candidates’ statements address topics like income inequality, environmental justice and affordable housing.

For candidates statements and more information on the vote, visit the California Democratic Party’s website here.

An earlier version of this article mistakenly stated that the delegate vote was for the Democratic National Convention. The elections are for the Democratic State Central Committee. We apologize for the error and have updated the post accordingly.
