Alhambra City Council to vote on new police chief

At 5:30 pm, during Monday night’s Alhambra City Council meeting, which will be held in conjunction with a special meeting of the Successor Agency to the Former Alhambra Redevelopment Agency. Joanna Vargas, past president of the Downtown Alhambra Business Association, will present on the 2017 Alhambra Pumpkin Run and the 2017 MainFest Music and Arts Festival.

The council will also decide whether to approve an Employment Agreement that designates Timothy Vu as the Chief of Police starting April 6, 2017. Vu is currently the Interim Police Chief and Deputy Chief of Police for the Westminster Police Department in Orange County.

In addition, city staff requests that the City Council appropriate $90,000 of funding for the City Hall Landscaping Project.

The City Council will also vote on whether to accept the 2016 Urban Area Strategic Security Initiative grant in the amount of $119,137, with $97,560 going to the Fire Department revenue and $21,577 going to the Police Department revenue.
