Ride and fundraiser in support of fallen Alhambra officer

Alhambra police officers held a fundraiser on January 9 to honor fallen Officer Ryan Stringer, who died in an accident while on duty last summer. Stringer was killed in an accident with another officer when responding to a robbery. Six officers will be riding this summer in his memory in the Police Unity Tour in Washington DC, the Pasadena Star-News reports.

The fundraiser was at 38 Degrees Ale House and Grill and proceeds will go toward officers' expenses for the ride.

"We're like a family and when you lose a family member and it's not expected, it's very difficult, and you have that loss and that void in your life," Lieutenant Jennifer Wiese told the Star-News.

"One of the most difficult kinds of traumas that can happen to the law enforcement community is the loss of an officer in the line of duty," added Captain Debbie Santana, who is also participating in the ride, "and the police memorial pays an honorable, dignified, lasting tribute to those police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice."
