Residents dance to Motown at Alhambra's First Friday
Residents and visitors snacked on free popcorn and watched an R&B band Friday at Alhambra's First Friday event. The live entertainment drew in a small crowd at the Renaissance Plaza on Garfield Avenue and Main Street, including Motown and pop performances from The Final Resultz and contemporary music from Alhambra's Pop Rock Academy. Passersby also browsed vendor booths selling bags, blankets, scarves, and jewelry.
First Friday is a monthly themed event sponsored by the Downtown Alhambra Business Association each first Friday of the month. The American Red Cross held a blood drive during Friday's festival to go along with August's theme, "Life."
"We hope everybody enjoyed this month's First Friday!" the Downtown Alhambra Business Association posted Monday on Facebook. "Keep it together because in 27 days we have an extra special surprise for you."
The next First Friday event will be held on Sept. 6 and the theme will be “Jazz.”
