Police department promotes neighborhood watch website

Alhambra Police Department recently promoted a neighborhood watch website called Nextdoor, which allows residents to join a local network and improve community safety, World Journal (世界日报)reports.

Residents can use a home phone number, mobile number, or credit cards to verify their address and register on Nextdoor. They can then learn about their neighborhood, ask questions, and have discussions with neighbors. Other than safety issues, the website also provides information such as school activities, nearby caretakers, secondhand sales, and lost pets. Nextdoor only allows residents living within the community to see the conversation on the website. The police department can post public information, but does not have access to residents’ conversation.

Other than Nextdoor, the Alhambra Police Department uses email, Facebook, and Nixle to share crime and safety information with the community.
