Picnic shelter replacement at Alhambra Park to start by summer

Alhambra City Council awarded Monday a contract to Southern California Rooms to install new picnic shelters at Alhambra Park. The contractor’s $203,880 bid was approved, and the project will begin by summer, according to Administrative Services Director Martin Ray.

The shelters became unsafe because of wear and tear, according to Ray. “They were made of wood and they started rotting out," he said. It is unclear how long the project will take, Ray added.

Councilman Dr. Steven Placido was pleased the picnic shelters would be replaced. “I’m sure glad we’re getting the park shelters back in place. We worked very hard to find the funding for that,” Placido said. “I’m glad to see that moving forward.”
