Pedestrian fatally struck by car on Garfield Avenue in Alhambra identified

A pedestrian who was killed early Monday after a vehicle struck her on Garfield Avenue and McLean Street has been identified as Chin Mei Chen of Alhambra, the Pasadena Star-News reports.
An autopsy has not been scheduled for Chen, Los Angeles County Coroner’s office spokesman Ed Winter told the Star-News.
Chen, 68, was crossing Garfield in a crosswalk around 6:30 a.m. when she was struck by a driver turning onto Garfield from McLean, said Sgt. Jerry Johnson of the Alhambra Police Department. Chen was rushed to Huntington Memorial Hospital where she died from her injuries.
The 39-year-old driver, also an Alhambra resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with police, according to a Monday statement from Alhambra PD. There was no evidence of alcohol or drug use.
