Package thief, caught on video by Alhambra resident, sentenced to jail

A Montebello woman was sentenced to 180 days in county jail Monday after getting caught on video stealing packages from an Alhambra residence.

The 20-year-old Rianna Medina pleaded no contest to second-degree commercial burglary and grand theft of personal property, according to a news release by the LA County District Attorney's Office.

The sentence also includes a five-year probation and 180-day live-in residential treatment program.

The Alhambra Police Department found Medina's location at a Rosemead hotel by posting the video on social media to ask for tips following the May 13 theft, the Alhambra Source previously reported.

The package contents were worth about $1000 in repair parts belonging to the victim, who is an appliance repair man, as ABC-7 reported.
