On the agenda: Public hearing about housing and economic funding; Placido pushes for 710 closure completion

Alhambra City Council will hold a public hearing Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. regarding funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), as part of the city's 2013-2014 Annual Action Plan. Approximately $766,000 from the CDBG and $347,000 from the HUD will be allocated to various housing and economic development programs in Alhambra. After receiving comments from the public, Council will vote whether to approve the allocations and send the plan to the HUD.

Mayor Steven Placido will also declare during Council's 7 p.m. meeting that July 10, 2013, will be "710 Day" to promote the closure of the 710 Freeway gap. Placido has been an outspoken supporter of the 710 freeway extension, which he claims will relieve traffic congestion, improve air quality, and provide safer and healthier living environment for children.

City Council meets every second and fourth Monday of the month at 5:30 and 7 p.m. at City Hall. Read the complete agenda below. You can also download the document or make it larger using the controls on the bottom.
