On the agenda: Midwick Tract development moves forward

Developer City Ventures will present to City Council on Monday a new proposal for a residential project on Fremont Avenue and Carlos Street. The proposal includes 68 single-family homes, as well as replacing the existing home on Carlos and Whitney Drive with two single-family homes. Once City Ventures presents the project to Council, it will move on to the Design Review Board and the Planning Commission for review.

The Midwick Tract development, an 8.8-acre site at 2400 S. Fremont Ave., was put on hold in June 2012 after residents protested the project, saying it would ruin the character of their historic neighborhood. After speaking with residents, City Ventures reduced the proposed number of units from 93 to 68 and nine luxury homes to single-family homes. However, residents continued to oppose the project.

City Council meets every second and fourth Monday at 7 p.m at City Hall. Read the complete agenda below. You can also download the document or make it larger using the controls on the bottom.
