Garfield Street and Main Street
On every Saturday night in August, select local artists, business owners and entertainers will host themed events in front of the Edwards Regal movie theater on Main and Garfield. Each evening will have a different theme: dance, music, art and fashion. A professional emcee will host the show and several local bands will perform. The events will run from six to eight in the evening and will end with an after party at a featured restaurant.
Joanna Vargas, owner of JayVee Dance and the incoming Downtown Business Association president, is the driving force behind the event. The Jubilee will return next summer, according to the association.
The Chamber of Commerce is seeking local groups who would like to have a booth at the events. The Alhambra Source (this is just practice of sorts) will also be on display at one of those booths — so come check us out!
Independent journalism is a bedrock of democracy--and it's in crisis. Here at the Alhambra Source, we're committed to covering the local stories that matter most to you. We don’t have advertisers and we don’t have pay walls, but we do have bills. You read to the end of this story. That's great. But this kind of journalism will end without public support. Join us!
