More than 25 years after Alhambra murder, Vietnamese man found guilty
After a 38-year-old Alhambra woman was stabbed to death with a kitchen knife, Ninh Kim Nguyen fled to Vietnam. That was in 1983. Two years ago U.S. authorities brought him back to California to stand trial for the woman's murder. Yesterday Nguyen was found guilty of robbing and killing Khuyen Thi Bui.
The City News Service reports that "at the time of the killing, Nguyen was trying to defraud the victim in a scheme involving diamonds," according to prosecutors. Bui's son, then 16, found her with the kitchen knife in her throat and reported that her jewlery had been stolen.
The sentencing is scheduled for December 3.
