Monterey Park residents voted Tuesday to maintain local control of their fire department, Pasadena Star-News reports. In a special election, opponents of Measure FF — which would have transferred the city's fire services to Los Angeles County — defeated the initiative with 64 percent of the 5,500 votes.
City staff will finalize results Wednesday.
