Monsters ride down Colorado Boulevard in Alhambra's 2014 Rose Parade float

Alhambra's 86th Rose Parade float brought a child's dream — or nightmare! — to life. Per the parade's "Dreams Come True" theme, four monsters rode Wednesday morning a monster truck down Colorado Boulevard on the city's 17-foot-tall float.

The float, which featured a red truck with yellow flames and multicolored monster riders, was made of mums, strawflowers, rosescarnations, lentil seeds, lettuce seeds, cranberries, onion powder, parsley flakes, seaweed, and other seeds and flowers, according to Alhambra's float entry.

Alhambra City Council voted in February to allow the Chamber of Commerce to oversee the construction and decoration of the 2014 Rose Parade float. Council also appropriated $90,000 in public art funds to help pay for the float and entrance fee.
