Alhambra Source partnered with the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society for a weekly column, "Pet of the week." Every Thursday, we'll introduce you to a new animal looking for a home. This week's pet is Peter, a male Chihuahua mix. Read more about Peter below!
Name: Peter ID: 5110Gender: MaleBreed: Chihuahua mix Age: 2 yearsWeight: 8.5 poundsFur: Black
Peter was abandoned along with two brothers and a sister. He has short legs and big ears like a Dachshund. Whatever his breed, Peter is just adorable.
He can be shy at first meeting, but he does like people and attention — and sausage treats. He gets along well with his kennel mate and the other dogs he has met at the shelter.
Peter loves to go on walks, and if you sit down with him on the grass or in his kennel, he will snuggle up close for a belly rub. He is a very loving little dog who just wants some love and security.
Peter's adoption fee is $120, which includes neuter surgery, first vaccinations, a microchip, and a free wellness visit with a participating veterinarian.
If you are interested in meeting Peter or any of the other available animals at the shelter, visit the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society at 851 E. Grand Ave., San Gabriel, Calif. 91776, Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. For more information, call (626) 286-1159.
Join us as we celebrate our 90th anniversary on Sept. 27 with an Open House Block Party. Since 1924, the shelter has been serving the San Gabriel Valley, and all past adopters are invited to bring their dogs and walk in our alumni parade. From noon to 5 p.m., there will be carnival games, an art walk, vendors, doggie tattoos, and games.
