Meet Oso at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

Alhambra Source partnered with the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society for a weekly column, "Pet of the Week." Every week we'll introduce you to a new animal looking for a home. This week's pet is Oso, a terrier mix. Read more about Oso below!

Name: Oso
ID: 21233
Gender: Male
Breed: Terrier mix
Age: 6 years old
Weight: 19 pounds
Fur: White

If you want to add a little delight to your life, come in to meet Oso. What a sweet dog! Oso is a six-year-old terrier mix that was surrendered by an owner who could not afford to care for him. When Oso arrived at the shelter, he had a long coat of matted fur, desperately in need of a good grooming session. His mats were shaved, and now his new fur is growing back soft and fluffy. He also had some basic dental work, and is now ready to find his forever home.

Wherever Oso goes, his happy spirit leads the way for the rest of his pack.  He is friendly with people and amiable with other dogs he has met during his time with us. He greets visitors who walk by his kennel with a smile and a wagging tail. Oso is easy to harness and is eager to go for a walk. Oso is also a playful boy and loves to chase toys that are thrown for him, fetching them back to be thrown again. He is learning to sit for treats and appears to be very trainable with the proper guidance.

Oso has so much potential to be an even better dog than he already is. Where Oso goes, joy will follow. Come in to meet this lovely boy soon, you will be glad you did. His adoption fee is $130 and includes neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip and a free wellness exam at a participating veterinarian. Feel free to call us at (626) 286-1159 for more information on Oso.

The San Gabriel Valley Humane Society is located at 851 E. Grand Avenue in San Gabriel. We are off San Gabriel Blvd, north of Mission and south of Las Tunas Drive. To arrange a “Meet and Greet” with Oso, please stop by any time from 10:30am to 4:30pm Tuesday through Sunday. See our website at www.sgvhumane.org for information and photos of all our wonderful pets.

We will be joining animal lovers for this year's Healthy Pet Expo on Saturday, April 16 from 9am to 3pm. It is at Whittier Narrows Park in the picnic area at 750 Santa Anita Ave in South El Monte. Bring your dog or cat and take advantage of the many free services for your pet, including nail trims, spay/neuter, vet consults, giveaways and free and low-cost vaccines. There will be a dog contest with prizes for the best outfit, coolest trick, and pet owner look-alike. Spend a fun day with your best friend and learn how to keep your pet healthy!
