Meet Omar at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

Alhambra Source partnered with the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society for a weekly column, "Pet of the Week." Every week we'll introduce you to a new animal looking for a home. This week's pet is Omar, a Jack Russell terrier mix. Read more about Omar below!

Omar is a very sweet boy who came into the shelter as a stray dog from San Gabriel. He is a Jack Russell mix that has a very interesting cream coat of short fur with some darker patches in a “pinto” pattern.

Omar was a bit fearful when he first arrived, but he has made an amazing adjustment and is now a happy dog who is friendly with people, always eager to see new visitors and old friends. Omar seems especially fond of ladies, but has also become very comfortable with the male volunteers that he sees every week.

Omar appears to have a calm energy level and mellow disposition, getting along well with his kennel mate and other dogs he has met during his time at the shelter. He is easy to harness, loves going for walks, and is very manageable on the leash. Omar enjoys sniffing and exploring, but always returns to his handler for some pets and treats. He is quite comfortable sitting quietly next to his person or relaxing in a lap.

Omar is a lovely boy with a gentle nature, and would make a great companion. He deserves a loving, secure home, some training to develop his potential and some daily exercise. Omar would love a yard where he can play with his new family and a comfortable bed where he can be close to them at night. Come in to meet this sweet boy to see if he would be a good match for your family. His adoption fee is $130, which includes neuter surgery, a microchip, first vaccinations and a free wellness check-up at a participating veterinarian. Feel free to call us at (626) 286-1159 for more information on Omar.

The San Gabriel Valley Humane Society is located at 851 E. Grand Avenue in San Gabriel. We are off San Gabriel Blvd, north of Mission and south of Las Tunas Drive. To arrange a ‘Meet and Greet’ with Omar, please stop by any time from 10:30am to 4:30pm Tuesday through Sunday. See our website at www.sgvhumane.org for information and photos of all our wonderful pets.
