Meet Josie the Chihuahua terrier mix at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

UPDATE: Bernie has been adopted! But there are many other available pets at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society. Visit the shelter to meet the animal who could be the newest member of your family.

Alhambra Source partnered with the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society for a weekly column, "Pet of the week." Every Thursday, we'll introduce you to a new animal looking for a home. This week's pet is Josie, a female Chihuahua terrier mix. Read more about Josie below!

Name: JosieID: 12072Gender: FemaleBreed: Chihuahua terrier mix   Age: 8 yearsWeight:  11.5 poundsFur:  White with brown patches

Josie is very well mannered and easy going with a quiet and calm temperament. She is friendly with people, but is not needy, demanding, or competitive for attention. Even when you offer her treats next to other dogs, she will wait her turn and chew each bite delicately.

Josie has an independent spirit, but enjoys the company of people and pets. She especially looks forward to going on leisurely evening walks, exploring, and rolling in the grass. Josie gets along well with other dogs, but particularly lights up and becomes more animated and playful with male dogs.

You can take Josie just about anywhere with you. Because of her calm energy, her good behavior, and friendliness to all people, she has become one of our shelter’s top dog ambassadors, taken to many of our public events. Josie is quite the lady and would be a wonderful addition to your family!

Josie's adoption fee is $120, which includes her spay surgery, a microchip, first vaccinations and a free wellness checkup with a participating veterinarian. She is also eligible for our "Senior for Senior" reduced adoption fee program.

If you are interested in meeting Josie or any of the other available animals at the shelter, visit the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society at 851 E. Grand Ave., San Gabriel, Calif. 91776, Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. For more information, call (626) 286-1159.
