I’m a lifelong resident of Alhambra and having a local newspaper, like Alhambra Source, is very important to me. It’s the only way to know the issues that will directly affect my day to day, where I live. That’s why I decided to support Alhambra Source with a monthly donation.

Meet Goofy, a labrador retriever and German shepherd mix, at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

Alhambra Source partnered with the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society for a weekly column, "Pet of the Week." Every Thursday, we'll introduce you to a new animal looking for a home. This week's pet is Goofy, a male labrador retriever and German shepherd mix. Read more about Goofy below!

Name: Goofy
ID: 10026
Gender: Male
Breed: Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Mix
Age: 7-8 years
Weight: 75 pounds
Fur: Black

Goofy has a soft velvety black coat that shines after a bath.  He has beautiful caramel eyes that radiate his sweet nature.  He walks well on a leash and has a calm energy that is easy to handle.  He has a gentle mouth when taking treats. Goofy can be a little shy at first meeting but loves people and enjoys attention and affection.

He has been to community events and behaves very well in public.  He is drawn to other dogs in a friendly, interested way, so he may have shared a home with other dogs. Goofy is looking for a comfortable, loving home to spend the rest of his life and would be a loyal friend and companion to the right family. He is not demanding, and will not ask for much more. His adoption fee is $135, which includes neuter surgery, a microchip, first vaccinations, and a free wellness check-up at a participating veterinarian.  He is eligible for the shelter’s "Senior For Senior" reduced fee adoption program.

If you are interested in meeting Goofy or any of the other wonderful animals at the shelter, visit the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society at 851 East Grand Avenue, San Gabriel, CA, Tuesday through Sunday. The shelter is closed Mondays. For more information, call (626) 286-1159 or visit our website.
