Meet Edelweiss the domestic short hair mix at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

Alhambra Source partnered with the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society for a weekly column, "Pet of the week." Every Thursday, we'll introduce you to a new animal looking for a home. This week's pet is Edelweiss, a female domestic short hair mix. Read more about Edelweiss below!

Name: EdelweissID: 11656Gender: FemaleBreed: Domestic short hair mixAge: 1.5 yearsWeight: 6 poundsFur: White

Edelweiss is a beautiful young cat who was abandoned in a carrier along with another cat. They room together and enjoy the company of each other as well as the other cats. Edelweiss is often the first cat to greet visitors. She is an affectionate girl who loves attention and cuddling on your lap. You will enjoy petting her silky soft fur while she gazes at you with her light blue-green eyes.

In honor of the shelter’s founding in 1924 and its 90 years in the San Gabriel Valley, adoption fees for cats over a year old have rolled back to 1920s rates. Edelweiss's adoption fee is $24 until the end of September. The fee includes spay surgery, first vaccinations, microchip, and free wellness visit at a participating veterinarian.

If you are interested in meeting Edelweiss or any of the other available animals at the shelter, visit the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society at 851 E. Grand Ave., San Gabriel, Calif. 91776, Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. For more information, call (626) 286-1159.

Join us as we celebrate our 90th anniversary on Sept. 27 with an Open House Block Party. All past adopters are invited to bring their dogs and walk in our alumni parade. From noon to 5 p.m., there will be carnival games, an art walk, vendors, and doggie tattoos and games.
