Meet Draco, a whippet mix, at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society

Alhambra Source partnered with the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society for a weekly column, "Pet of the Week." Every Thursday, we'll introduce you to a new animal looking for a home. This week's pet is Draco, a whippet mix. Read more about Draco below!
Name: Draco
ID: 17184
Gender: Male
Breed: Whippet mix
Age: 1 year
Weight: 10 pounds
Fur: Short, reddish golden fur
Draco is a very handsome boy with beautiful brown eyes and velvety ears that flop over in a charming way.
Draco can be a little shy at first, but he is quick to warm up and show his happy, friendly disposition. He likes being with people, and he is quite comfortable sitting on a lap and getting one-on-one affection. He has a way of looking up into your eyes that is sure to melt your heart.
Draco is still a young dog, and has a fairly high energy level. He is easy to harness and enjoys going for walks, although he could use some training on the leash.
Draco loves to find a scent to follow, and is interested in exploring his surroundings when he gets a chance. He is a smart boy, and has learned his “sit” command from one of our volunteers in just a few minutes. Draco is responsive, and motivated by treats, so training should be a fun activity to share with his new family!
Draco appears to enjoy the company of other dogs, gets along famously with his kennel mate, and can be very playful when he finds a dog willing to join in.
Draco would make a wonderful pet in an active home where he is part of the family. He would benefit from some training, and would love to have a daily walk or two, and a yard where he can play and relax. And in his quiet time, he would love to have a lap where he can cuddle. If Draco sounds like the right addition to your family, please come in to meet him. He is waiting for you!
His adoption fee is $120 which includes his neuter surgery, a microchip, first vaccinations and a free wellness check-up at a participating veterinarian.
If you are interested in meeting Draco or any of the other available animals at the shelter, visit the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society at 851 E. Grand Ave., San Gabriel, Calif.  91776. It is open 10:00am to 4:30pm Tuesday through Sunday. For more information, call (626) 286-1159. See our website at www.sgvhumane.org for information and photos of all their wonderful pets.
