Alhambra Source partnered with the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society for a weekly column, "Pet of the Week." Every Thursday, we'll introduce you to a new animal looking for a home. This week's pet is Dexter, a collie and Australian shepherd mix. Read more about Dexter below!
Breed: Collie, Australian Shepherd Mix
Age: 2 years
Weight: 42 pounds
Fur: Tan/Merle coat
Dexter arrived at the shelter left in a box with a small friend, both suffering from a skin condition. With proper treatment and tender loving care, he now has a clean bill of health and has blossomed into the handsome boy he was always meant to be. As beautiful as his coat is, his most striking feature is his eyes. He has one honey brown eye while the other is icy blue. During his stay at the shelter he has been a hit with visitors, volunteers and staff alike! When he is not charming his adoring fans at the shelter or at community events, he loves making up his own games and playing with unattended paper towel rolls. Dexter is a curious and intelligent playmate that would thrive with training that channels his intelligence in the right direction. He will definitely make his future parents proud at doggy school! Dexter is the perfect combination of beautiful lassie good looks, canine smarts, and spellbinding eyes all wrapped up in unadulterated silliness.
Come in to see if Dexter is the best friend you are looking for. He is waiting to meet you! He currently resides at the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society located at 851 E. Grand Avenue in San Gabriel. We are located off San Gabriel Blvd., north of Mission and south of Las Tunas. To arrange a "Meet and Greet" with Dexter, please stop by any time from 10:00am to 4:30pm Tuesday through Sunday.
His adoption fee is $135 and includes neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, and a free wellness exam at a participating veterinarian. Feel free to call us at (626) 286-1159 for more information on Dexter. See our website at www.sgvhumane.org for information and photos of all our wonderful pets.
