Marguerita Elementary and Ramona Convent were put on a cautionary lockdown Wednesday after police received reports of gunfire in the area. The Alhambra Police Department sent out units to the 10 Freeway, where the gunshots were purported to have occurred.
Police searched the freeway from Atlantic to Fremont, but could not find any evidence of a gun having been fired, according to Sergeant Gerald Johnson.
“There were no victims. No property damage. It could have been a car backfiring. It could have even been fireworks,” said Johnson.
The lockdown lasted less than thirty minutes.
