A Monterey Park man will receive a $15 million settlement after he was struck and pinned by a firetruck on April 16, 2014, reports the Pasadena Star-News
. Alhambra and Monterey Park have agreed to pay the settlement without admitting fault.
The incident occurred when Alhambra and Monterey Park fire trucks collided on the intersection
of Emerson and Garfield Avenues during a call. Kenneth Thai, 53 years old, was standing nearby when the Monterey Park truck hit him. He lost his right leg as a result, and has been dealing with other medical issues stemming from the accident.
The collision also caused considerable damage to Lu Dumpling house on 330 N. Garfield. The restaurant was forced to close indefinitely for repairs.
