Some cities consider scrapping Rose Parade floats to save money

In an attempt to keep a balanced budget during tough economic times, many cities may scrap their plans for a float in the next Rose Parade. West Covina has decided it will not enter a float, while cities such as Glendale are still mulling over the decision. Alhambra has proposed dropping the $100,000 that its Chamber of Commerce uses to construct a float. The chamber said that it will enter a float, whether or not it receives funding from the city.
