Lack of contenders prompts Alhambra to cancel municipal elections (previously in the Alhambra Source)

"With no contenders running against three council members up for re-election, city officials have for the first time ever canceled a municipal election, saving about $200,000," the SGV Tribune reports (previously reported in the Alhambra Source). "No challengers filed papers to run against Mayor Stephen Sham or City Council members Barbara Messina and Luis Ayala, who will automatically be re-elected in November, as per state law."
