Health Perks For Monterey Park Officials Violated State Law

"Past and present Monterey Park elected officials must now pay the city back a total of $85,000 in healthcare premiums after the city corrected a policy that was in violation of state law for some time," Elizabeth Hsing-Huei Chou reports. "The city discovered it paid several elected officials more than is allowable by state law for health benefits. On March 17, the city sent bills out to six sitting and two retired elected officials based on overpayments going back to 2008."
