Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) will hold a job fair in Los Angeles on May 7 this year to recruit for various positions including Chinese-English linguists. The FBI now has 1500 linguists across the country, 150 of whom are based in California, the World Journal reports. All contracted linguists will work from 0 to 40 hours a week on an average hourly wage of $38 to $42. A contracted linguist will not be eligible for employee benefits but will be able to apply to become a full-time language analyst in three years after initial contract. All applicants must be American citizens and will go through intensive language exams, interviews, polygraph tests and background check. The entire process will take up to one year.
