Driver with expired insurance stunned by $1080 ticket

Pasadena resident Ms. Lin was recently penalized $1080 for her right turn violation and her vehicle insurance that expired one day before the incident, the World Journal reports. According to Ioannis Kazanis, a spokesman for California's Insurance Department, the implementation of SB 1500 in auto insurance mandates a $796 penalization for drivers driving without valid auto insurance.
