Chinese American voter turnout for this week's municipal elections appears to be low compared to the Chinese population in Southern California, the World Journal reports. One of the reasons for the low turnout is that Chinese American voters tend to act at the last minute and neglect the correct voting process. Many voters arrived at the ballot booth but were unable to find their names in the electoral roll. As many as 460 provisional votes were cast in San Gabriel because there were questions regarding the voter's eligibility, according to the World Journal.
