Alhambra retirement community closing its doors

The Alhambra, a 127-unit retirement community for the elderly, will be closing its doors after losing $1 million annually in the past years. The community will be closed by September 1, and plans are being developed to turn it into a residential complex serving younger families.

The loss of money stems from the community's declining number of new residents. A study showed that The Alhambra had been slow in attracting the Asian community, which takes up the majority of the city's population and continues to grow.
