To commemorate the life of Hong Kong democracy activist, Szeto Wah, around 4000 Chinese Americans got together in nine North American cities including Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Chicago, Boston, New York and Los Angeles on Jan 30. About 200 people attended the event in Alhambra. According to a democracy activist Zheng Cunzhu, a group of human rights activists from the 1989 Tiananmen Square protest who wished to attend Wah's funeral were denied entrance to Hong Kong.
Independent journalism is a bedrock of democracy--and it's in crisis. Here at the Alhambra Source, we're committed to covering the local stories that matter most to you. We don’t have advertisers and we don’t have pay walls, but we do have bills. You read to the end of this story. That's great. But this kind of journalism will end without public support. Join us!
