6.26.12 has been named 626 Day – a day to “celebrate the 626 community”. At least according to the organizers behind the 626 Night Market, who have signed up local independent restaurants, retailers and online stores to offer discounts and prizes. Alhambra participants include Mama’s Kitchen, which will be offering free Taiwanese snacks (luwei) with the order of an entree; Ozero by Cofftea, free toppings on a caramelized snow cone; and Old Country Café with 10% off a bill.
A list of participating businesses is available on the 626 Market website. Organizers told the Pasadena Sun that local businesses do not have to pay to participate.
Many of the local retailers are also participating in the second 626 Night Market, to take place on July 28. Organizers took feedback from their first try and told LAist they reserved more than 10,000 parking spaces and a venue four times larger than the last event.
