Alhambra Police apprended five alleged burlars on Monday afternoon.
Anyone with information related to this type of crime is asked to call Detective Orozco at (626) 570-5187 or the Alhambra Police Department Dispatch at (626) 570-5151. Residential burglaries in Alhambra have risen slightly in October, and residents are asked to call the Alhambra Police Department Dispatch center immediately if they observed any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
"This is an example of how community policing works," said Alhambra Police Department Sergeant Brandon Black. "The hero of yesterday was the concerned citizen who called us."A press release with additional details of the incident follows.
SUBJECT OF PRESS RELEASE: Arrest of 5 Burglary Suspects,Date and Time Occurred: October 25, 2010 at 1:37 p.m..Location of Occurrence: 500 Block of North Story Place, City Of Alhambra
On Monday, October 25, 2010, at approximately 1:37 p.m., Alhambra Police Department received a 911 call from a concerned citizen regarding a possible burglary in-progress in the 500 block of North Story Place. Officers arrived and immediately apprehended 2 suspects fleeing from the scene. Officers then set up containment of the area and after a thorough search of the surrounding neighborhood located another 3 suspects, who were also arrested. One of the five suspects is an Alhambra resident, three of the suspects are from the Inland Empire and one is a resident of the City of Los Angeles. All five suspects are black males in their twenties, two of which are currently on parole.
During the investigation, additional evidence was discovered which linked the suspects to another Alhambra burglary that occurred in the southwest part of the City and had not yet been reported.
Alhambra detectives are actively working the case.
