First Street between Commonwealth Avenue and Main Street will revert back to two-way traffic by Jan. 11. The street will be closed Wednesday at 6 p.m. through Thursday at 6 a.m. for sandblasting, the Alhambra Police Department posted Wednesday on Facebook. The street will also be closed Saturday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. for pavement preservation and striping.
Second Street near Alhambra High School will remain a one-way street.
Alhambra City Council approved the traffic change in December to accommodate the construction of a multilevel parking structure north of Main and the resulting increase in traffic. Construction of the parking structure will begin mid to late January and is scheduled to be completed in October.
