Alhambra Source presents: A Conversation with Dreamers

RSVP: http://bit.ly/2ot1rJC

Join Alhambra Source as we launch our very first live podcast recording! For this event we will be facilitating a conversation between two local Dreamers on the topic of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and ask them to share their personal experience growing up with that title designation. The program will center around the DACA experience and will gravitate towards an intimate conversation on its effects as a social designation. We will also discuss Dreamer representation in mainstream media, the interaction of cultural norms and citizen-status for Dreamers, its impact on mental health and other subjects revolving around this immigration policy.

4:30 pm – 5:00 pm: Open doors; Mingle.

5:00 pm – 6:00 pm (flexible): Conversation with Dreamers

6:00 pm – 6:15 pm: Audience Q&A

6:15 pm – 7:00 pm: Close

We are glad to welcome back independent multimedia journalist Erica Mu as facilitator for this conversation. Mu is an award-winning reporter, producer, and project designer based in Los Angeles, whose work has appeared on programs including State of the Re:Union, Marketplace, and The California Report. She has worked with Alhambra Source in the past as a facilitator at our Engaging Immigrant Voices youth workshop last Fall, a workshop that taught youth storytelling methods in new media and how to combat bias in reporting.
