I’m a lifelong resident of Alhambra and having a local newspaper, like Alhambra Source, is very important to me. It’s the only way to know the issues that will directly affect my day to day, where I live. That’s why I decided to support Alhambra Source with a monthly donation.

“Fools,” the hit comedic farce by Neil Simon, will be performed by Alhambra High School’s Thespian Society this November 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 7 pm in the Alhambra High School auditorium.

The story follows Leon Tolchinsky, an ambitious young teacher in 1800’s Ukraine, who ventures to the rural village of Kulyenchikov to teach Sophia, daughter of Dr. Zubritsky. Upon his arrival, Leon discovers that the village has been under a curse for the last 100 years: everyone in town is doomed to be an idiot, even the beautiful Sophia. The only way to break the curse is for Leon to teach Sophia something she actually remembers and understands. If Leon cannot break the curse within 24 hours, he too will become a fool.

The production features two separate casts of actors performing on alternate evenings. “Fools” stars Bob Liu and David Sandoval as Leon Tolchinsky and includes: Hannah Carrazco and Jackie Nisall as Sophia Zubritsky, Tyler Torres and Zeiad Farouk as Dr. Zubritsky, Jennifer Uyemura and Erine Duclan as Lenya Zubritsky, Dylan Nattboy and Sam Luo as Count Gregor Yousekevitch, Stephaney Knapp and Vicky Cervantes as Snetsky, Cherry Chen and Jennifer Su as Yenchna, Esperanza Cervantes and Brandon Torres as Mishkin, Kiani Lujan and Alexis Ramirez as Slovitch, and Adrian Vicente-Nation and Kyla Khailiam as Magistrate.

Student actors have been rehearsing since late September to perfect their performance. Technical Theatre students have meticulously handcrafted the sets, lights, and sound. The humorous play is family friendly and sure to delight all audiences.

Pre-sale tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults. General admission at the door is $12 for all patrons.
