Crimes reported and traffic accidents in Alhambra: April 24 to April 30

Four drivers were arrested at a sobriety checkpoint that the Alhambra Police Department Traffic Bureau conducted on April 29. In addition, eight vehicles were impounded and 43 drivers were given citations for vehicle code violations. The checkpoint, held from 6:30pm to 2:30am, was part of a semi-regular police department initiative to cut down on substance-related accidents. Another checkpoint was conducted on May 6.

  1. I don’t know where the last check point was, but I do recall one several years ago on Garfield Ave between Commonwealth Ave and Mission Rd. Many of these checkpoints target people leaving the food/bar/club establishments (along or near Main St.) that serve alcohol.

    It’s great to know the police conduct these checkpoints regularly. I have seen the effects of alcohol and the problems they create at many of the businesses along Main St.
