Community Engagement Coordinator position at Alhambra Source



Under the general direction of The Alhambra Project directors, the part-time Community Engagement Coordinator position seeks to hire a strong candidate that will help advance the civic engagement goals of the Alhambra Source. This includes but is not limited to; attending meetings and events, building a local network, building upon local connections to develop programs and events that will help engage new community contributors/writers with the Alhambra Source, increase readership and raise awareness of the Source, and improve opportunities for local community members and organizations to engage in conversations about local issues.


Community Engagement/Communication: build relationships with community members at meetings, and events.

Meeting /Event Planning: Plan and organize meetings and events for Alhambra and SGV resident engagement


Knowledge of: Civic engagement; an understanding of the ethnic diversity of the San Gabriel Valley (SGV); community and non-profit organizations in the SGV.

Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills, including public speaking, listening and interpretive skills. Event planning and creativity.

Ability to: build and manage relations with community contacts; keep abreast of community engagements; attend community events; develop events.

Ability to: work without direct supervision; a self-starter who can figure things out and take initiative independently.


  • Alhambra or San Gabriel Valley Resident or high familiarity with area
  • Experience providing meeting facilitation support (e.g. community building)
  • Multilingual skills in English and either Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese


Position requires local travel in Alhambra, CA. Ability to work from home with some meetings at Alhambra Source office or other USC related meeting space.
