More than a hundred San Gabriel Valley Chinese restaurants and supermarkets were among those affected by the power outages, reports the World Journal. One restaurant owner, who was forced to close, said that he usually received around 2000 customers per day and did not know how much he would lose in income from products in the refrigerator that might go bad. A Chinese supermarket owner told the Journal that he had backup emergency electricity which could last two to three hours, but the outage was too long.
